The right size makes all the difference in comfort, safety, and how your gear performs on the trail. Here's how to measure your dog for the best fit.
Why Proper Fit Matters
A harness that fits well is more comfortable for your dog and helps the gear do its job. A harness that's too loose can slip; one that's too tight can chafe or restrict movement. Take a minute to measure — it's worth it.
How to Measure Chest Girth
Wrap a soft measuring tape around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs. This is the most important measurement.
How to Measure Neck
Measure around the base of your dog's neck, where a collar would naturally sit.
A Note on Weight
Weight is a secondary reference only. Two dogs of the same weight can have very different builds, so always rely on chest and neck measurements first.
Don't Size by Breed Alone
Breed is not a reliable way to choose a size. Every dog is unique — measure yours.
Between Sizes?
If your dog falls between two sizes, prioritize the chest measurement.
The Two-Finger Fit Rule
When fitted correctly, you should be able to fit two fingers between the harness and your dog's body. The harness should be secure but not tight.
Check the Fit in Motion
After putting on the harness, have your dog walk, sit, and move around, then check the fit again to make sure it stays comfortable and secure.
